This is a 12" x 9" color study for a larger (36" x 24") commissioned painting. My reference was a black and white photo, so I had to decide which color palette to use. Rather that use the standard yellow, red, blue palette I decided to just reach into my bag of tricks and choose similar colors.I chose these oil colors for the finished work: oxide of chromium green, naples yellow, mauve (blue shade), burnt sienna, black and white.
