.This was painted on June 12th while I and two friends were trying to catch the light and shadow play on a meadow in Tunnel Hill, GA. It was fairly early but we knew it would be hot very soon. This meadow is the scene of the annual Battle of Tunnel Hill, a Civil War reenactment held every Fall in September. The late frost and recent drought has given the trees' foliage a varied palette of color. This is the same site represented in the painting posted on April 30th. You can see the changes in foliage.

Nice to have these scenes documented first hand (plein air), and to see the changes from one season (or month) to another. I think this process gives one a deeper understanding of (and concern for)natural dynamics that we may be interfering with.
Several of my artist friends paint old barns, old trees, etc because they know the bulldozers are coming over the hill soon. It's a pity that so much beauty and history can be lost when they "pave paradise and put up a parking lot". I guess it's the same with your painting old cars - preserving the beautious beasts before someone calls the crusher man.
