Meadowlawn Hayfield

10" x 20" oil on stretched canvas, painted en plein air - $185 including shipping -
The August heat made the sweet smell of Summer hay fill the air. The meadow is quiet now but on September 8th and 9th, the annual Civil War reenactment will be held on these grounds in Tunnel Hill, GA.

Not Another Red Barn - DONATED

16" x20" acrylic on stretched canvas - NFS
- DONATED

Well, the barn in my reference photo isn't yellow. But I remembered I had never actually seen a yellow barn - until now. I know the reasoning behind originally painting barns red, but I just couldn't keep from dipping my brushes into the yellows on my palette.

I hope you enjoy the detour from reality.

Catoosa County Barn - in progress

16" x 20" acrylic on stretched canvas
$240 when completed

This old barn stands beside Cherokee Valley Road in Catoosa County, GA, between Ringgold, GA, and Chattanooga, TN. An old photo shows it in early Fall, but I want to paint it as Spring arrives. There will be several more photos taken before I decide on the final color palette.

Cold Moon Morning

16 " x 20" acrylic on stretched canvas $240

I sometimes paint snow scenes in the Summer.

During an outdoor art show in July 2004, I did this painting from imagination.

People stood watching as I painted the footprints leading from the fence row, crossing the road to the barn. Some were making up stories about the farmer who had put out hay for the horse, wondering which mountain range that might be, and remembering scenes from their childhood.

"Cold Moon" is another name for the full moon appearing in January.
