Just Saying Good Morning

8" x 10" oil on canvas covered hardboard - painted en plein air, alla prima - $85 including shipping -

Painted August 24th, this scene is quite similar to my painting titled "Early Before the Rain". This week had seen clear bright mornings, with colors fairly singing. I love to see the way different atmospheric conditions affect a scene. The previous painting ("Early...Rain" - July 20th) was done on an overcast morning - this one done with almost no atmospheric interference - except for the brilliant sun.

Blasket Islands in Ireland

16" x 20" oil on stretched canvas
$240

This is another in a series of Ireland inspired paintings. The Blasket Islands are wild, windswept and "other worldly". We made lots of photos and I referenced several postcards and other images for this piece. The sky and water colors were very dark the day we were there, so I imagined a lighter atmosphere.

Grounded

8" x 10" acrylic on canvas panel - $ 80

Trees are all around us. We just don't notice them. They are the "lungs of the Earth", replenishing the atmosphere, offering shade, beauty, building material. Trees have a lot to tell us - if we just listen. They quietly speak of past storms, love long forgotten, future possibilities. There's a tree near you - waiting to tell you it's story. You only have to watch and listen.

Last Sail of the Season

12" x 9" acrylic on canvas covered hardboard
$90

This was painted using only red, yellow, black and white acrylic pigments.

I wanted to convey an atmospheric, open, serene feeling. After I laid in the basic shapes, the painting almost
painted itself.
