In 1998, my daughter Ann and I visited Ireland, seeing the land of our ancestors for the first time. Photographs hardly held the beauty of the country. I felt the need to paint landscapes depicting what we had seen.
Some 25+ years before, I had studied art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. However, the dim memory of classroom art needed sharpening, if I was to paint the Irish landscapes I had come to love.
After participating in several local art workshops, I could see my style beginning to develop. After doing several paintings, I began to include countryside scenes from my native North Georgia foothills.
My artwork has been shown at Gallery 111 in Dalton, GA, and several civic centers in the North Georgia/Tennessee area. Another collector of my work lives in Ireland.
Since recently retiring from the Postal Service, I find that painting every day has become a joy that I cannot contain.
