South from Fort Keys

10"x8" oil on canvas covered hardboard painted en plein air, alla prima - $85 including shipping -
As we were painting at the Tunnel Hill battlefield on March 22nd, I saw this lovely patch of purple at the meadow's edge. As I painted, the dark colors under the trees on the left kept changing. Even though my initial intent was to feature the purple flowers, I loved working on the darks as well.

Those Bloomin' Pear Trees

10"x8" oil on canvas covered hardboard - $85 including shipping -
Sandra, Sherry, Tim and I met at the Tunnel Hill battlefield on Saturday, March 22nd, and had a great plein air painting day.
This small building is directly across the street from the Heritage Center. The pear trees are in full bloom and are amazing in all their colors of white.

Greener is Better

8" x 10" original oil on canvas covered hardboard - $85 including shipping -
There has been a lot of comment lately about global warming and the urging for people to "go green". Sometimes I love to look at trees and soak in their beauty, their colors and their seeming wisdom to the ways of nature. This scene is imaginary, but I hope it actually exists and will for generations to come.

Spring Mountain Shadows - SOLD

9" x 12" original oil on canvas covered hardboard - $108 including shipping - SOLD -
The April heavy frost in this North Georgia area killed much of the trees' new leaf growth, giving the impression of Fall colors in Spring. The colors are quite wonderful, but difficult to match when painting them onto canvas.

Early Spring Fog

8" x 10" oil on canvas covered hardboard
painted en plein air

$85 including shipping

It was pea soup foggy as I drove early to Sandra's house for a day of painting. Plein air is Sandra's specialty and I'm learning to catch the essence of the scene before it slips away. It was a perfect morning as the fog rose to reveal the distant hills. The light was incredible!

Suddenly Spring

4" x 4" x 1/2" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas
$20 - including shipping

I'm just imagining what my little tree will look like in her Spring costume of green. Soon, very soon.

Working on a very small canvas is sometimes as challenging as painting a 16"x20" piece.

Catoosa County Barn - in progress

16" x 20" acrylic on stretched canvas
$240 when completed

This old barn stands beside Cherokee Valley Road in Catoosa County, GA, between Ringgold, GA, and Chattanooga, TN. An old photo shows it in early Fall, but I want to paint it as Spring arrives. There will be several more photos taken before I decide on the final color palette.
